Air transport of incubators in safety
Problem:
A national health service asked us, in partnership with BOGGI AERONAUTICS, to solve the critical issue of loading and transporting safely neonatal incubators and all monitoring systems in Air Ambulances.
Critical issues:
- The rigidity of the EASA safety regulations
- Weight containment to not aggravate the maximum helicopter’s reach
- Extremely easy to use
- Extreme anchor safety
Proposal:
A rail system that locks to the vehicle and a light, slim stretcher that can slip in immediately is our intuition.
From the idea we went to the design, and shortly afterwards to the feasibility study on CNC machine tools. To obtain the desire results we had to use our best-performing CNC 5-axis machining centers and produce tailored tools.
After our first assembly flying tests were done. Stretcher load/unload, and flight tests were successful, and fortunately EASA certification was obtained immediately.
We are proud to say that this system, the first ever in the world, has been flying for more than 4 years in the same Douphin AS365-N3 helicopter and has carried hundreds of newborns to the destinations designated for their emergency care.
